( june event ) who's that pokemon?

For the residents of Wayward Pines, the 19th is just your typical boring Monday. The sun is shining. The birds are chirping.
Until suddenly, they're not.
That's the first sign. Maybe you don't even notice — you're far too busy with your nine-to-five, or maybe even by poolside, blissfully ignorant to the trouble brewing just out of sight, or to the fact that SPF 15 is basically just water anyway. Or maybe you aren't quite so lucky. You notice the birds have gone silent. You feel the eyes upon you, unseen but still raising goosebumps on the back of your neck.
And then from the woods, that telltale scream.
No, two screams, then three, then five, then more than a dozen. You can't count them, can't figure out which direction they're coming from. It's like they're all around you now. Even above you. Now you spot them on the rooftops — god, they're huge, you can't even fathom how they made it up there unnoticed.
But they're not playing at stealth anymore. One leaps off the roof, a single fluid bound on long thick limbs, and barely lands on the sidewalk for a moment before it lunges at the nearest person — your neighbor mowing his lawn, or maybe the woman carrying that armful of bags out of French's Grocery — long claws slicing through their flesh like a hot knife through butter. Then comes another, and another. Into the streets, the backyards, and the ill-timed pool parties, tearing through every living soul they can find.
By nightfall, the creatures have retreated back into the woods en masse, but anyone foolish enough to wander too far from the safety of their homes runs the risk of being picked off one by one if they're not careful. The 20th and 21st follow a similar pattern; during the day, the Sheriff and a team of volunteers comb through the woods looking for survivors, and during the night, these creatures do much the same.
The morning of the 22nd dawns with the last of the vicious "murder potatoes" (as Linda had hysterically dubbed them on the first day while wielding a butcher's knife with astonishing proficiency) have fallen, and the danger is gone.
For now, anyway. The questions they leave behind, however? Those are here to stay.MOD NOTES

Cain (Roman Fletcher) | In Town, Hospital | OTA
[ Roman is being stupid, and he knows it. Given the chance, however, between being needlessly safe and distressingly reckless, he'd rather go with the second because reckless doesn't mean the same thing for him as it does for basically everyone else in the whole town. All it means for him is potential downtime before he'll come back and carry on.
That's a lot of what he does while he makes it across town. Finds someone, or is found by the monsters, fights back, gets varying levels of injured, recovers because immortality has nice perks sometimes, gets back into the fight. Over and over again until his brain finally finishes forming that plan he was considering.
That said, he could do better during an invasion of degenerate monsters than just a steak knife he grabbed during the pool party. He could definitely do better than swim trunks and a loose tank top that's already got some rips and shreds to it from working his way through the monster crowd. Doesn't matter overall. He's going to push his way through and listen or look for anyone in need of help while on his way across town. About halfway there, more sense kicks in and he hotwires a car parked along the sidewalk before flooring it to the hospital. ]
Hospital. 19th-22nd.
[ Once he's there, Roman takes charge. Not that there aren't problems here, too, but instinct and faint memories and just vast amounts of nebulous experience spur him to work with what feels natural. He works with anyone who's already there, starts forming plans, reaches out as soon as he can, and gets the place in order. Thankfully he also ends up with jeans and a scrub shirt. Look, it's important, okay???
He doesn't know everything, but a united front is better than keeping the town scattered in small, easily-decimated numbers. For the rest of the invasion, he's more or less found in varying states of awake and exhausted while trying to keep the perimeter safe, people with all their unique skills organized, and maintaining as much calm and rationality in the building as he can. Bother him at your leisure, really. ]
Hospital
Sitting down next to the guy who seemed to be coordinating everything, Alec offers him one of the cups of coffee he's balancing while keeping the plate of sandwiches for himself. He'll share once he's had enough calories to be able to keep going for the next rounds of patrols, ward maintenance, and fighting.]
It was a good idea to have everyone come here. It's probably the safest place in town.
no subject
Thanks. Seemed like the think to do. It's no good if we're all scattered to the winds.
[ He looks over, noticing the food and the tiredness to his eyes and that it's someone he knows. More or less. ]
How are holding up?
no subject
No it's not. I know what can happen when those who can't fight aren't located where the fighters can protect them.
[Now's not the time to think of Max or all the people who had died in the demon attack months ago. Maybe it's good that he doesn't have time to sleep since this will probably set off a few nightmares.
Taking a bite of one of the sandwiches, Alec considers how to answer. Lies are the easiest but that doesn't help make Roman's job easier while trying to plan for the next few hours, or even the next few days.]
Tired. I can keep going for a few more days, maybe longer, depending on how much Magnus needs me to share strength with him. If we can't find people to help with the wards, I'll be out of the fighting in a day or so.
no subject
He does pause to rub at his eyes but isn't more out of an old, weary motion than actual tiredness so far. Stress is high and redirecting it to something useful isn't easy. ]
I'd rather you paced yourself than trying to rush it all at once. There's literally no telling how many are here or what their numbers are outside the town or whether they get tired like we do or not.
[ They can last for a while given proper opportunity and taking care of their resources, material and people both, but if they're just better prepared outside... He's been thinking about that one, too, in the back of his mind. ]
no subject
[Once he doesn't feel like he's going to pass out from hunger, Alec moves the plate over where Roman can reach it, giving him an apologetic smile.]
Fighting plus fast metabolism. There's ways I can keep going without eating, but it'd ruin that pacing.
[He appreciates that Roman isn't pretending that they know what the threat is or saying that it will be a short siege when they don't know what those things are or how many there are.]
I'm not going to intentionally burn out but if it's a choice between that and keeping the wards up, I'll let Magnus take as much as he needs.
[Magnus wouldn't take that step, but hopefully they'd find others that could 'power' the wards other than the Lightwood siblings.]
We might be able to get an idea of numbers or set up methods of attack that aren't going to wear out our fighters. Izzy can think up something if we give her enough information to work with.
no subject
Been working on collecting information. We've got a good vantage with the height of the hospital but actual reconnaissance is too tricky without more surefire ways of fighting back.
What does Magnus take from you to keep powered up? Maybe we can find others.
[ Like universal blood donors. Only... powers. ]
no subject
Have you interviewed the fighters that have been out there? That could give us details on weaknesses, where to hit them, what will drive them back.
[It might not result in much that can help but sometimes all that's needed is one word or some seemingly insignificant detail...
Taking a swallow of coffee, Alec tries to think of the best explanation when he really doesn't have the knowledge needed to explain how Magnus' magic works other than 'genetics'.]
Honestly, I'm not sure. We call it 'sharing strength'. That's what it feels like. He uses my vitality to power his magic or to heal others. He can do the same with others, if they'll trust him to not take too much.
no subject
If he uses vitality, I'll talk to him. [ His lips quirk up, entertained by the idea that he can't do any magic but maybe he can be a battery. Sure, why not? ] Pretty sure I don't run out of that.
no subject
[Magnus might be able to help but Alec's not going to promise any more of his husband's focus when he's not sure how difficult it'll be to keep up the wards.
Arching an eyebrow at the comment about vitality, he's not sure if he should ignore it or try for more information. Since Alec's never really understood tact...]
Everyone runs out of energy eventually.
no subject
Maybe so, but I'm pretty sure it'll take longer than anyone here's got before I do. [ He cants his head to the side, regarding Alec. They just recently came to town, didn't they? Relatively so. Not long enough to really know. ] Right, okay. I don't age, don't get hurt for long, so I doubt whatever it is Magnus does will be a problem.
no subject
[it might not help those without training but every advantage known could save someone's life.
For a moment, he looks surprised by the admission, then he scans Roman for some sign of a warlock mark before realizing that there isn't going to be one. He can't be a warlock if he doesn't know about 'sharing strength' and didn't know how Magnus' magic worked.]
I know a few people like that, but they still run out of energy. Unless they're... [Alec seen one type of being who wouldn't run out of energy but... No, he'd be basically vaporized or blind if Roman was Angelic.] Well, they wouldn't easily fit inside a hospital
no subject
[ No actual magic to him. Something... greater, beyond perhaps, but nothing like magic. ]
Really? That's a first for me. It's worth trying, at any rate.
no subject
[It'd been that way in the past, Alec is certain of that even if he doesn't remember all the details of that particular mission.]
Which part? Knowing immortals or knowing something that has that kind of power but wouldn't fit inside the building?
It's worth trying but we'll need to find a long term solution to keeping them out if this lasts more than a few days. [Pausing, he looks over his shoulder at the direction where he'd last seen his husband.] I don't like Magnus having to hold the wards like this. It'd be too easy for him to go too far.
Hospital
Still, though, she's in the hospital and ready to do what she can to defend things here. And that's why she's approached the de facto coordinating leader of the hospital. It isn't to compliment him on his shirt choice, unfortunately.] I'm Izzy...you're Roman, right?
no subject
[ He says that, but... well, he's not injured at all. Just frazzled, hair out of place from the situation and how often he's running his hands through it and smoothing it down. Her down to business greeting after the momentary snark gets a smile from him. ]
That's right. What do you need?
[ How can he help her help them all? ]
no subject
Another question for another time, though.] I wanted to ask if anybody has come to you about getting into the chemicals--industrial cleaner and all of that--that we have available in the hospital to put towards defending this place from those things? There's a lot that we can do with the cleaners alone, let alone some of the other things that they should have around here.
[As she speaks, Izzy gestures backward in a vague reference to where one might find said chemicals. Her usual confidence is in place, even though she's only vaguely aware of how she knows this. she knows that...she's got some education backing her up.
Damn memories. Most of them are fully back, but now she's realizing there are still a few stragglers.] I don't want to step on anyone's toes if there's already a plan in place...and if not I want to see what I can mix together that makes an impact on these things becausse I already have some thoughts. [She drops her hand, serpent bracelet slipping down back into place with the settling movement.]
no subject
There's some doctors and other people looking into it, but I doubt anyone would say no to extra hands. [ He motions down the hallway, then points up to one of the overhead signs. ] They're in outpatients with all the stuff they've grabbed. No concrete plan yet. Think that's where you'll be for the foreseeable future?
[ He wants to keep tabs on everyone that he can manage. Make it easier if they needs to rearrange or change plans somewhere along the line. ]
no subject
Izzy nods, knowing that doctors looking into what they have make sense. The hospital staff are easily going to be the people most familiar with what exactly they have here. So, that's definitely going to come in handy; they also should know the basics to mixing together caustic chesidering the onslaugh.emicals.] I'm going to guess the more the better, considering the onslaught.
[Izzy peers down the hallway, noting the spot easily and then turns her attention back to Roman. She can add more to that, and she can help there and she knows that without a doubt. The petitew oman nods automatically.] I'll be there, for the most part, unless Alec or Magnus need a hand with anything. [She gestures in the direction that she last saw her family members, knowing that she can find them pretty easily and vice versa.] Then I'll bounce back and forth.
[She gets where he's coming from, and she's not going to make it hard to find her. In a battle, especially one like this, you need to be able to find people, after all.] Has anybody shared any weaknesses or details about fighting against these things with you that you can pass on?
