[ There are the types of students who arrive early and immediately make their way into the building, heading off to their classes to wait for the teacher to arrive and for the days learning to begin. None of those types of students include 1 (one) Noah Czerny.
Noah arrives early to school -- and by early, this is typically fifteen to twenty minutes before the bell actually rings for class to start. -- for no other reason that to loiter around the school grounds with his friends.
He's typically found in the parking lot, practicing various tricks on his skateboard -- trying, and sometimes failing, not to ruin whatever clothes he's picked out for the day more than they already are. -- hanging around the hallways against a row of lockers -- usually being heckled by some teacher to put his board away and hurry off to class -- or, rarely actually seated in class waiting for it to start. ]
( after the bell )
[ Noah's not a member of any clubs, or sports teams. He doesn't have much of an interest in any of the things that the groups were focused on (Newspaper, Yearbook, Student Government, Chess, Drama... It was like an endless list of things Noah was particularly uninterested in.), and being a lanky teenager doesn't really make him the most desirable candidate for any sports teams (and if it doesn't involve four tiny wheels attached to a plank of wood, he doesn't really care for it, anyway.), but all of that doesn't seem to stop the boy from hanging around long after the bell has signaled the enf of classes.
It's not like there's much else going on in the town of Wayward Pines that's particularly exciting. He'd heard one of his neighbors talking about how the paperboy had bypassed their house this morning, which marked the most exciting thing he's heard anyone talk about in the last week.
(The talk of the inclement weather has long since lost its wonder to just about everyone.)
So, Noah hangs around the building. Sometimes, he just sits outside on the curb watching the marching band practice walking in precise lines and formations, or posted up on the bleachers playing the role of spectator as different teams take the field to practice. And other times, he's roaming the empty hallways, carefully trying to avoid being caught by any teachers who are aware that he has no real reason for remaining in the building long after most of the student body has left already. ]
