May 20, Just another Saturday night
Who: Alec Lightwood, Magnus Bane, and Izzy Lightwood
Where: The Lightwood-Bane household
When: May 20th
What: The family discusses the strange phone calls.
Warnings: Will update if needed
[Closed]
Alec had heard the messages, but hadn't reacted in obvious ways. He'd sat down with a book, pretending to read while mulling over what was going on. He didn't know anyone who had made the announcements but they seemed to believe their warnings. Alec had felt something in his leg after the accident, the tracker he assumed, but he'd thought it was a remnant of an old injury. He had enough scars to make the idea plausible.
Video cameras. Trackers. Bodies that weren't human.
Just another Saturday night...
Shaking his head, he knew that the cameras and the trackers weren't normal in relation to the life he'd had in New York. Unidentifiable species didn't faze him either. Technically, most of his friends had been in the 'not-human' category and Nephilim and Warlocks might not be classified as human either. If the Mundanes in town started to fear their Downworlder neighbors...
Standing, set down his book and he poked his head into Magnus' workshop, smiling at his husband to hide his worries. "Didn't you want Izzy and me to show you the staff work we're starting to remember?" The training room would be perfect for the three of them to discuss what was going on.

It was this skill that had him going about life as usual, only disabling cameras for short periods of time when he and Alec were being intimate. That, of course, was a pattern of behavior partially set to help in the future as much as being literally wrapped up in each other made it easy to whisper to each other about memories of the past and plans for the future. Now, in his workshop, he's attempting to put his pent-up energy to use by practicing some more difficult spells. Up in his tower, it's safer to experiment where it can't reach Alec or Izzy to cause any harm.
Not that it's easy to focus. When Alec peaks around the door, Magnus is lying on his back on the floor and staring up at the golden constellations painted on the workshop's ceiling. Tilting his head back and smiling at Alec upside-down, he nods and rolls over onto his stomach to regard his husband. "Yes, and I could use an outlet for this energy," he said, confident that Alec would understand as someone he knew often trained to help himself clear his mind of conflicts.

Tipping his head to one side when Magnus smiled at him, he chuckled over the upside down angle as he leaned against the door jamb. "A safe for sisters outlet?" he teased. "I think she's in the kitchen so we'd better hurry before she decides to mix tuna with something questionable." The thought was terrifying.
When he was sure that Magnus was following, he headed toward where he last saw Izzy, hand automatically reaching for his husband's. Reaching the kitchen, he hoped that they could easily distract her from whatever she was making. They probably could talk there, but it would be easier to deal with the cameras in the training room than try to disable every one that might pick up what was going on in the kitchen.
Without realizing it, he gave Izzy the kind of look that they used during missions, meant to communicate the seriousness of a situation without having to speak. Alec briefly glanced at the phone, then focused on his sister. "If you're not busy, Magnus wanted to see the staff work we started remembering."

She can't talk it through when she knows it's not really safe...and here it isn't safe.
Izzy's quiet, standing in font of the fridge with her head cocked to the left and her left hand on her hip when she hears the sound of footsteps. She's, more or less, been rummaging mindlessly...more in her thoughts than into anything she's doing in the kitchen. Shutting the door to the appliance, Izzy turns toward the two men approaching her, straightening because of the look on Alec's face. He may not be saying much out of a necessity to be surreptitious, but his demeanor, the look on his face...the glance at the phone say more than enough. Plastering on her default confident grin, Izzy gives a nod and puts both hands on her hips. "I'm never too busy for my favorite brother-in-law." She teases, amusement on her face.
"Or you, big brother, just so you don't feel left out." Izzy winks. "Lets do it." She gives a small clap and then moves; this will help, she hopes, because she can at least talk through what's been on her mind with her brother and Magnus. She's sure that they might be helpful or have input that could help.

Watching the exchange between the siblings, Magnus is once again struck by how good they both are at this kind of thing. Alec and Izzy are both trained fighters, but it's more than just combat; they're hunters, which required them to be as intelligent as their prey.
Magnus chuckled, turning a grin from Alec to Izzy. "Now now, no one get jealous. I don't want to have Lightwoods fighting over me," he teased, kissing Alec on the cheek. Turning to lead the way down into the basement, he tugged on Alec's hand along the way. "Good thing we're practicing where no one can see my crushing defeat, right?" he asked, glancing sideways at Alec in a silent question. It would be easy to disable the cameras, if necessary, but just as easy to disguise their conversation beneath a training routine.

Knowing that being angry over the situation wouldn't change anything and could possible get them watched more closely, Alec pushed aside the negative emotions, rolling his eyes at Izzy's banter with Magnus. It helped to have Magnus close, knowing that he wasn't in danger. "I'm not going to get jealous of Izzy," he countered, arm automatically sliding around Magnus' waist. "I already know that she's amazing and could steal me away from you if we weren't married."
Stepping away from Magnus so he could take the lead and deal with the cameras, he gave his husband's fingers a light squeeze to indicate he understood the question. "Only me and Izzy, but we promise not make it too painful." Looking over at Izzy, he gave his sister a wry smile as he made sure that she was following. "You and me with staves and then Magnus against me with magic?" If they needed the cameras disabled for more than what was normal for them, flying fireballs should distract whoever was watching the video.

And despite what she's saying, Izzy knows that she'd never do that to anybody. She doesn't want to steal someone. She'd much rather have someone that isn't attached. And someone that has integrity. A girl has to have her standards, after all. Maybe that's a part of why she's single?
Playing with the bangle on her wrist, her electrum whip and favored weapon, Izzy smirks. "I'm sure it won't be a crushing defeat, you stand a chance. But whatever happens here stays here, promise." She follows that with a nod directed at her brother, remaining light about everything. "Including me beating my big brother in a spar with staves!" Her tone is bright as she finishes descending the stairs, exuding confidence. Her brother may be bigger, but they have similar training and she is confident in her abilities....even if she doesn't win she approaches pretty much everything with gusto and confidence that she may not always have. They're not addressing the cameras because whoever, exactly, it is that is watching them doesn't need the warning of what is coming.
And Izzy's just doing her part to play into making them look just like any othe saccharinely cute family unit, sort of. Dropping her hand from her wrist Izzy poses a question. "You don't mind if I use my own, right, Alec?" The question comes out as she feels the cool metal slither on her wrist, almost as if anticipation.

Chuckling at the trash talk, Magnus lazily waved a hand through the air like he was wafting away silly details. While the gesture seemed casual, in reality it was to cast a spell that turned the camera originally aimed at the main sparring area until it was directed, very unhelpfully, at a wall. It wasn't exactly a subtle move, but it always wasn't enough to get them noticed in the short time it took to have a conversation.
"I wouldn't be as concerned if I could use magic, but the point is to hone other skills." He took a step closer to Alec and pushed up onto his toes to give him a kiss before retreating to the couch nearby where he could both act as audience and also participate in the conversation that was the main reason for them being here. "I have plenty of memories of watching Alec train, but never the two of you together. This should be as interesting as it is instructional."
