It feels weird to be counting time again. After whatever happened in the rest of the country happened (did it happen? He's still vague on what exactly it was, and he's not quite sure if it's his memory or the world that's wrong, and he's trying not to think too hard about it), they'd stopped counting the days. Not much point, really. Now, he's been here almost a month. He's got...well, if not friends, exactly, people he talks to, people who know his name. He helps Sidonis out from time to time with shipments at the bar, he's spent time in the woods both alone and with company. But there are still so many empty hours to fill now that he's not fighting to survive, and frankly it's a little late in the season to be surviving off of foraging in new territory.

Enter: the prospect of odd jobs around town, or: why at two in the afternoon or so on Sunday, as the plows continue their routes, 10K is downtown putting up painstakingly scrawled handwritten signs on the bulletin board by the town map, as well as in shop entryways or on posts, anywhere he can get permission. The signs are simple enough:

"SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS SHOVELED
PORCHES CLEARED CARS SWEPT
$20+
CALL XXX-XXXX"

He's never been opposed to manual labor, his dad taught him better than that, and thanks to the snow shovel he found in the garage, it should be pretty easy to pick up some business. After his signs are posted, he stops off at Hurt's to grab some doughnuts, and by the general store to stock up on some groceries. With the nearly forty inches of snow that came down over the last week, he definitely wants to be prepared in case winter strikes again.
