[OPEN] you can swing it, you can groove it, you can really start to move it at the hop

Who: Magnus bane ([personal profile] appetitive), Alec Lightwood ([personal profile] angelic_archer), & YOU!
Where: The Vinyl Destination music store
When: night of May 14th
What: An open-invitation party to celebrate the opening of the store
Warnings: Please tag accordingly in your threads!

I. Rock Around The Clock
Being that this party is for the opening of a music store, it makes sense that the main feature of the night is a dance floor! Music from throughout the 1950s will be playing, both in the store itself as well as the large loft above that has been converted into a miniature sockhop for everyone in attendence. Records and streamers hang from the ceilings and there is a lot of black, white, and pink to be seen. There's also a small stage in one corner set up for anyone brave enough to pick up one of the guitars that usually adorn the shop downstairs, as well as several microphone stands that are hooked up to a karaoke machine. Come in and dance the night away! Anyone wearing era-appropriate attire will random prizes.
II. All Shook Up
Being that this is a Magnus party, there is a wide range of cocktails to sample being made at the open bar. Most of them are were what was popular at the time—Manhattans, Old Fashioneds, the classic Gin & Tonic—but requests for specialty drinks are being taken as well. There are also, in true 50s style, milkshakes that are creamy enough to tempt even those who would usually try to resist. But there's a twist: they're alcoholic. None will be served to minors, but it's totally possible that the adults won't realized their delicious treats are spiked until after they've had their second (or third) glass. Also, though the upper loft is well-lit for dancing, the first-floor store has plenty of dark corners for making bad decisions. So grab your honey, grab a drink, and enjoy the night together.
III. Tutti Frutti
Half of the upper loft is dedicated to refreshments as well as boasting furniture looks like it was ripped from a diner—you guessed it, chrome with red vinyl upholstery. A table along one wall is ladden with miniature versions of popular diner food—cheeseburgers, hot dogs, even tuna melts—as well as french fries and plenty of other finger food. And, because this is the 1950s, there's jello. Lots of jello. So much jello that it's insane, how can anyone love jello this much? Luckily, if you don't go ape over gelatine-based desserts, there are also record-shaped cookies and non-alcoholic milkshakes for the kiddies. Seeing as this is a small town with families, and thus minors, there are plenty of drink options for those who aren't yet old enough to drink or who prefer not to.
IV. La Bamba
No invite is necessary, IC or OOC, for anyone who'd like to jump in and join the party! It's safe to assume that flyers have been up around town to announce the time and place. Hopefully, with enough people in attendance throughout the night, there's plenty of chances to make friends (or maybe enemies). Feel free to choose your own adventure, and don't worry about boundaries—if it doesn't break the game, it won't break this party post! But be aware that your hosts, one of whom is a warlock and the other a demon hunter, won't stand for any altercations inside the store. Instead, maybe take it outside if the mood or your ex-girlfriend strike you. If you'd like to assume that you're helping run the party—bartending, music playing, etc—go nuts and have fun!

Izzy levels her older brother with a look, unable to help herself. He knows her. He's known her for the entirety of her life; he knows that if there's one person that is on his side, even in this situation, it's her. So, he shouldn't be surprised that she's in the middle of this even if not completely so. "Alec, you know me. I won't be fixing anything until things are being fixed with you." Though, she's not exacture sure that the issues with Maryse will be so easy to just move passed, considering the disapproval that she's always felt from her mother.

Alec and Jace get hugs, after all, she's always gotten the cold shoulder.

"But we are here and I'm pretty happy with the turnout, personally. I love the way this place looks and everything." Izzy informs her brother, just as an aside. Unfortunately, she can see the face he's got going right now. And she knows that she's managed to shock him. She can't help that she says what she thinks. "I think you need to get them out of your mind because Magnus and you are vastly different...in basically every way I can come up with." Izzy gives her brother a smile.

She can't help but do what she can to reassure her brother, a bit of a scoff escaping her mouth. "I don't know if that's all that ran him off, but...fair point." She smiles and then rolls her eyes, playfully, at her brother. She's not quite as hopeful about her own love life as she likes to pretend, but she does give a nod. "That's what I keep telling myself. And I'm on the prowl." A joke, obviously! "So if you see anybody who looks single, well dressed, and interesting point them my way." She sticks her tongue out at her brother, knowing that is not going to be happening, but she can't help the tease before moving to get rid of her jello dish and utensil.

"You've mingled, Mr. Proprieter, right?"

"I know." He did. Izzy had been the one person who supported him during his many crises about his sexuality and his fears about their parents disowning him for one reason or another. Jace would have helped, but Alec had been too afraid to tell him the truth to ever get that kind of help from his best friend. "That doesn't mean I like that the three of you are at odds." He almost apologized for being the cause of that fighting, but it wasn't his fault. Maryse and Robert needed to accept who he was.

"It is a good turnout and Magnus did an amazing job with decorating." Looking over at the Jell-O, he quirked an eyebrow up at that detail. That might have been a little too faithful to the era. "People seem interested in the shop." And Magnus seemed interested in throwing more parties which would help with those worries about boredom.

Instead of commenting on their parents' marriage, Alec made a non-committal sound. Izzy might be accepting the divorce but that didn't mean it was a good time to talk about it. "Something else did, but I'm not sure what. It was something serious." But every time Alec tried to focus on the reason or his name, the details slipped away. "I don't think you cared about well-dressed before." Stealing a bite of Jell-O before she threw it away, he arched an eyebrow at his little sister. "Isn't having your gay brother set you up like one of those weird, Mundane cliches?" Rolling his eyes, he pretended to be annoyed, but the expression quickly changed to a smile. "Yes, I mingled. Magnus taught me how to deal with parties."

Izzy chooses to shrug off the fact that Alec doesn't like her being at odds with their parents. Unfortunately, there's nothing that he can do to change the way that things are. She's not going to be able to chance her stance...not with the treatment of Alec and definitely not with the issues she and her mother have developed outside of that. It's not up to him, even if Alec would rather be able to fix things himself. It's up to Robert and Maryse.

"Well, you did marry into impeccable tastes all around." Izzy teases. "And you put him right into his element here." Izzy gives a gesture around them, thinking that Magnus might even be a little better than her at whipping a party together. Though, she can't be that far behind. It might be pride saying that, though. "With all of this to draw them in, plus the music it was bound to happen." Izzy replies confidently. "Interest, and business, is good."

She's going to focus on that good, for now.

Lifting her shoulders in a bit of a shrug, Izzy can't really comment on the what. Or the severity, truth be told. "Maybe you just liked him more than you let on and it's actually your way of showing disappointment." Another tease. Meliorn--the name hits her quickly--wasn't her choice to break up with, but she knows she did the right thing....even if the name and few details are what hit her at the moment. Not missing a beat, and filing that back for later she lets out a bit of a laugh. "Maybe I'm trying something new, considering how lucky you got with Magnus, hm? And what's bad about cliches...sometimes they have their purposes!" Izzy says before sticking her tongue out at her brother, putting it away a moment later.

"I'm just checking. It's a requirement for you to talk to everyone possible, considering this is basically a networking opportunity."
