When they'd first met, Alec had been firmly in denial about himself to the point of rejecting the possibility that he could have a happy relationship he deserved. Magnus hadn't been much better, though, hiding behind layers of decadence and sarcasm to keep out any more heartbreak. And yet somehow they'd coaxed each other out of their insecurities and made a relationship with work.
