Isabelle looks lovely as always, and Magnus is happy to see that she's enjoying herself at the party. It's more than simply being thrilled to have another guest in the first of a long line of parties Magnus is likely to be throwing in the future; having her in town has done wonders for Alec's mood. It's almost as if Izzy had known that Alec was missing his family just before she'd arrived. Magnus and Alec had both had feelings of homesickness for New York, but with Izzy around it feels less like they're on their own here and more like they have a family.

He doesn't get a chance to say so until he catches her at the refreshment table, holding a plate more full of jello than anyone else he'd seen so far. Biting back laughter and a comment about how she must have taste buds of steel, he waves his hand at the offering. "I'm drinking my calories tonight," he says with a smirk, lifting the glass he's cradling in one hand. "As I recall, they found some terrible uses for jello back in the 50s that included tuna fish salad."
