The party seemed to be a success. Everyone seemed to be having fun, dancing to records that Alec had loaded into the jukebox and dressing up in outfits that he was only vaguely familiar from album covers and descriptions his husband had given of the era. Music he knew, but fashion was Magnus' area of expertise. So was hosting a party even if it technically was for the opening of Alec's shop. At least with both of them listed as owners, he didn't feel guilty relying on Magnus' skills... And Magnus needed to throw a party occasionally or he'd get bored.
A bored Magnus would either be wonderfully distracting or cause Alec to wait for something to accidentally blow up as his husband tried to remember spells. Either way, his life was exciting but this was something that he knew Magnus would thrive on.
As he talked to their guests, his gaze kept drifting toward his husband. Whenever Magnus noticed, Alec grinned at him, the love and happiness he felt at having this chance with Magnus almost feeling too vast to be contained. He was sure that Izzy was probably thrilled for them both or would be teasing him later for how completely besotted he was but Alec didn't care. Occasionally, when Alec knew that no one would notice, the looks became a hint of something else that eventually became more tangible when Magnus finally interrupted Alec's conversation with someone whose name he was trying to remember to guide him down the stairs and into the shop.
Laughing softly when Magnus maneuvered him onto the couch, he was already leaning in for a kiss as his husband settled onto his lap. Hands curling around Magnus' sides beneath the pink leather, he hummed softly as one kiss led to another, only pulling away when he had to catch his breath. "I was going to ask you to dance but I like this better."
