Since there hadn't been anyone in the store, Alec had been wandering around the shop, staring intently at different items that decorated the shop. For some reason the collection seemed strange. They didn't quite seem like his usual taste, but in a way they did. Odd bits of the past had been sneaking up on him, elaborate settings for some memories and a spartan, lonely room that hadn't felt like home. Maybe the shop and the whimsical collection inside it had been a way to rebel against that loneliness.
Turning toward the door when the bell jiggled, he returned the wave, wondering why it felt odd. Had he really been that socially awkward before or was it something to do with Clary? If it was somehow connected to Clary, it wasn't dislike even if he was still slightly suspicious of her, but something else. Like he expected her to think the worst of him.
Shaking off the thought, moved toward Clary, Alec considered her question. Was it something most people had known? It wasn't something he'd known until he'd turned on the stereo. "I didn't know I liked it this much but - " Looking around the store, he shook his head and smiled. "It feels right. What about you? Are you looking for something in particular?"
