Glancing over at Alec, he chuckled and patted his thigh beneath the table. "It would, but biscuit just flowed so nicely in the moment. I don't know why, but that's to be expected when experiencing amnesia," he said with a thoughtful frown that he turned on Clary. He had hoped that meeting her would spark some recognition, but his mind was still blank for the moment. "Maybe we know each other, if she remembers my name."
He leaned over the table to look more closely at the mark on Clary's arm, taking note of how it was lighter than a common tattoo, similar to some of the marks that Alec bore. The strangest part, amongst the existing weirdness that they both bore symbols of unknown source or meaning, was that the ones on Alec were in various states of fading; some were dark and fresh while others looked more like scars than tattoos. "I'd like to see your sketch book, if you have it. It might offer some insight into these marks if you've drawn any that Alec has."
Sitting back, he took up his teacup again and gave it a thoughtful sip. "A good strategy, darling. I would suggest turning out our pockets, but mine are lacking in anything unusual," he said with a pout that indicated exactly how boring that was to him.
